9th March, 2011 - Royal Hospital Kilmainham, Dublin
Ireland's second Business of Ageing Conference took place in March this year. The conference was attended by over 200 business professionals who came to find how they or their organisation could benefit from engaging with the fastest growing demographic. The 50+.
Building on the first conference this year’s speakers delved into the practicalities of targeting the 50+ market: Who are they? What do they want? How do we target them? How do we design for them?
Renowned international speakers such as George Magnus and Dick Stroud opened the day's preceedings with talks on the business opportunities in an ageing global economy. Also presented in the morning session were the results from Ireland's first 50+ national consumer survey. The findings were presented by Gerard O'Neill, Amarach Research and Orlaith Blaney, McCann Erickson. David Sinclair from the International Longevity Centre – UK presented on his own organisations findings from a UK based 50+ consumer survey.
The afternoon saw an array of speakers from Ireland and abroad speaking on key subjects such as marketing to the 50+, health and well being, retirement and inclusive design.
The day was rounded of with presentations from Global Futurist, Anne Lise Kjaer and from John Purcell, Chief Executive of KCLR 96fm. John gave an outline of the world’s first festival to celebrate ageing, the “Greystock Festival”, with its four themes –Grey Matters, Grey Games, Grey Icons and Grey Pride.
